The Volunteer Emergency Services (WAFES) Conference will be held this year at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in Perth from Friday 6 September to Sunday 8 September.
The Emergency Services Levy (ESL) will pay for travel, accommodation and food for Bush Fire Volunteer Members who live more than 50km’s from the Perth CBD, however registrations MUST close on Wednesday 31 July.
We know for some of our amazing members, the word “conference” sounds a bit like a visit to the dentist without anaesthetic, but it’s really not.
As well as a myriad of very interesting, useful and entertaining information sessions, the conference also combines a large exhibition of tools, equipment and other things useful to bush fire volunteers and their brigades. But if none of that is enough to prompt you to register for the first time this year, many attendees in the past have told us the most valuable aspect of the three days in Perth is being able to meet and chat with other volunteers from around the State – without it being during a major incident.
In short, there is something for everyone and we would dearly love to see new faces this year, especially from Brigades that have never been represented before.
If you are interested, please register now – DFES has already extended the deadline by a week and cannot do so again: Wednesday this week is your absolute last chance to apply for funded travel and accommodation.
