We recently received this correspondence from Women and Leadership Australia and thought it might be useful for some of our incredible women volunteers.

Dear Dave,

Earlier this year a small pool of scholarship funding was provisioned for women working in the fire prevention sector to undertake a range of leadership development programs.

As a result, we are pleased to announce that quite a number of women are currently participating in these courses, empowering their career pathway within the industry.

Women & Leadership Australia would like to build further on the gender equality momentum that has already been generated.

An additional round of scholarship funding has been provisioned for women in the fire prevention sector, and we kindly ask Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades WA to make your women members and contacts aware of the funding window.

The fee support opportunity provides women with scholarships of between $3,000 and $8,000 but has to be allocated prior to the end of 2017.

At this stage, Expressions of Interest are being sourced until December 15 via this link: https://www.wla.edu.au/funding

Below is some wording that would be appropriate in support of the project. If you could let me know whether you will be able to send this to your contacts or include in your newsletter it would be sincerely appreciated.

We thank the AVBFB in advance for your support and involvement with this important developmental initiative for the fire prevention sector.

Kind regards,

Alistair Young

Building on the significant developmental momentum achieved earlier in the year, Women & Leadership Australia is administering a national initiative to support the development of female leaders across Australia’s fire prevention sector.

The initiative is providing women with grants of between $3,000 and $8,000 to enable participation in a range of leadership development programs.

The scholarship funding is provided with the specific intent of providing powerful and effective development opportunities for fire prevention sector women; however the funding is strictly limited and has to be allocated prior to the end of 2017.
