The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) and the amazing 26,000 women and men we represent are all too aware that fire safety is everyone’s business – and you’re never too young to start getting involved.

So it it wonderful to see the switched on folks at the Mundijong Public Library embracing (excuse the pun) our Mascot-for-hire “Bushy Bear” to familiarise the great kids and their families about the issue of fire. Not only do these sessions teach families important facts about how to prevent and respond to fire, they also make kids a lot more comfortable with seeing emergency services do what they sometimes have to do. And to us, that is the very beginning of building a more resilient society.

Congratulations to the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and all others involved in this wonderful initiative and a special thank you to the Mundijong Public Library for sharing these lovely photos and invaluable key messages.
