Emergency Services Minister Hon Fran Logan, Commissioner Darren Klemm and the Executive Director of the DFES Rural Fire Division (DRFD) have certainly covered a lot of ground since announcing the Government’s decisions in response to the recommendations of the Ferguson Report into the Waroona Fire.

After their lightning visits to the South-West, Great Southern and Wheatbelt since 13 April, the Minister, Commissioner, Acting Executive Director of the DRFD and staff jumped on the government jet and headed to the North-West this week to consult with volunteers in Newman, Exmouth, Karratha, Port Hedland, Broome, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek and Kununurra about the changes being made.

As you can see from the photos below (and others on the Minister’s Facebook page here), the volunteers who were able to attend the meetings seemed engaged and interested.

The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) thanks the Minister, Commissioner, DRFD Staff and other DFES and Ministerial staff for doing their best to personally get out to as many regions as possible – we only wish we could have taken one of the empty seats on the plane to provide even more engagement and value for our regional and remote volunteers!
