While many of us enjoy most weeknights at home with our families and long weekends on holidays, there are a band of unique individuals across our great State who sacrifice those little luxuries and often much more for nothing other than the satisfaction of knowing they are doing their bit to protect our community.
And some of those individuals are indeed very special, and like those pictured above, have given their time, skills and considerable expert knowledge for more than 50 years.
The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) is very proud to help the Maranup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade recognise volunteers Hugh Browne, Gilbert Rowan Robinson and Sandy Bagshaw (pictured above) who were recently presented with their extremely well-earned 50 year service medals.
Hal Reid who wasn’t able to be at the ceremony was also awarded a 55 year service medal.
Hugh ,Sandy and Hal all reside in the area and are still very active, invaluable members of the Brigade. Gilbert has just moved away from the area and therefore isn’t able to be a regular member of the Brigade.
Congratulations to these incredible gentlemen for all they have given, and continue to do for our community. And thank you to those who provided the photo and details so we could help give some of the recognition these amazing volunteers deserve.
If you or your brigade have information about other great work and/or achievements that deserve public recognition, please send us photos and details at firstname.lastname@example.org
