“The new $19 million station will be built at 27-33 Carr Street, West Perth, and will service the Perth CBD and surrounding suburbs,” Mr Francis said.

“In recent years demands on the existing Perth fire station have increased significantly and more residential and commercial construction in the city means this trend will continue.

“The Perth City Link, Elizabeth Quay and other projects will see the construction of more high-rise buildings in the CBD, and with higher density comes higher demands on the fire service.

“A new station on the western side of the CBD will ease the pressure on the existing station in East Perth.

“This is a sensible planning decision and reflects the State Government’s commitment to provide sufficient emergency services to protect the city’s CBD, as well as suburban and regional communities.”
