DFES General Circular No: 42/2015
UPDATE – VOLUNTEER PATHWAYS ISSUING OF CERTIFICATES
As part of the implementation of the Volunteer Firefighter 1 (VFF 1) and State Emergency Service 1 (SES 1) Pathways, three steps have concluded which are:
- Processing of the course/skills declaration forms for VFF 1 and SES 1 Pathways;
- Volunteers completing pathway courses; and
- Updating of the competency mapping for the courses on VFF 1 and SES 1.
1. Processing of the course/skills declaration forms for VFF 1 and SES 1
As part of the VFF 1 and SES 1 Pathway implementation, a course/skills declaration form was provided to each BGU. The processing of these forms has now concluded and relevant courses credited.
2. Volunteers completing courses
Since the initial implementation in August 2014 a number of volunteers have completed courses on the Pathway making them eligible to receive the first level Volunteer Pathway Certificate.
3. Updating of the competency mapping for the courses on VFF 1 and SES 1 Pathways
A review of mapping for VFF 1 and SES 1 Pathways was conducted in response to feedback from stakeholders.
As a result of this review, the TRK Owners assessed AIIMS Awareness and have mapped previous courses addressing the AIIMS Awareness content to the current Pathway course.
The review has enabled further VFF 1 and SES 1 Pathway Certificates to be issued (through the DFES regions) during May 2015. This only applies to current volunteer members who have previously completed the mapped courses.
New members will be required to do the AIIMS Awareness course as per their Pathway.
Volunteer Firefighter 2 – 6 and SES 2 – 4 Pathways Implementation
Mapping for these Pathways is nearing completion. Issuing of the Pathways certificates by Service will be implemented throughout May 2015 via DFES regions. These Pathways Certificates will be issued to Volunteers meeting the requirements as a block.
A course/skills declaration form will not accompany these Pathways; however anyone who believes they have missing records should contact their region in the normal manner.
