As explained in this article last week, the Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) recently received confirmation that the government will not pursue our expression of interest to co-locate our office with the Bushfire Centre of Excellence (BCoE).
That was very disappointing to the association because it would have been a great opportunity for DFES and the peak body for WA’s volunteer bush fire brigade members to find new and more effective ways to collaborate. However, we have had to accept the decision and move forward – we simply need some basic infrastructure to provide the best professional services our members deserve.
So we have done so by taking up a generous offer to sub-let two small office spaces within the WA Farmers Perth office on level 2, 161 Great Eastern Highway Belmont.
We’ve only just got our feet under the table and don’t yet have a dedicated phone number but are working very hard to set up the office so we can develop the base for the enormous task ahead we have to ensure the voice of our incredible volunteers is heard and respected.
There has been a couple of technical glitches in the last few weeks as we’ve been making the transition and thank our members for your patience. As we make the exciting changes we will now try to find the money to implement, we will keep all of our stakeholders fully informed.
