The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) was invited to attend the Lower South West Regional Operations Advisory Committee (ROAC) meeting in Margaret River this morning.
These valuable triannual meetings bring together volunteers and representatives of Local Governments and Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades to discuss recent events and future issues regarding the region’s PPRR (Preparedness, Prevention, Response, Recovery) with many opportunities for sharing and learning.
This meeting had two non standard agenda items – an overview of the new DFES Rural Fire Division (DRFD) from Executive Director Murray Carter and a quick run-through of the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) bushfire permit system. Both were informative and appreciated by those who gave up their Thursday to travel to the meeting, including the AVBFB.
Thank you again to all who come together at meetings like this all across WA for the benefit of our community – especially those who aren’t paid to do so.
