The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) is now calling for nominations of Bush Fire Brigade volunteers for a limited number of fully funded attendances at the 2019 WAFES Conference to be held in Perth from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 September.
The annual volunteer fire and emergency services conference is funded by the Emergency Services Levy (ESL) and managed by DFES with significant input and assistance from each of the Volunteer Emergency Services’ Associations (SES, VFRS, VFES, VMRS and the AVBFB).
Because the amount of funding available is appropriately limited, the numbers of volunteers attending from each service are also limited. As a result, the WAFES Conference committee has again agreed that the best way to ensure priority is given to the broadest range of volunteers from across the state, nominations must be approved by each respective representative association before they will be accepted and locked in by the conference organiser.
While there is no problem with volunteers who have attended before nominating, the association will do its best to give priority to those who haven’t attended in the past, especially if they are from brigades that have never been represented.
If there are less nominations than available places, all valid nominees will be approved. However, if there are more nominations than available places, we will have to sort by the above criteria until all places are filled.
Previous conferences have been great opportunities to meet other volunteers, share valuable information and learn from a huge range of speakers on many different topics. Successful registration also includes entry to the Welcome Sundowner on Friday evening and the Awards Gala Dinner on Saturday night.
