Unprecedented; that’s how Australia’s bushfire crisis has been described repeatedly in recent weeks.

Six lives lost, hundreds of properties destroyed and well over 1 million hectares burned across Australia so far.

Fighting bushfires in this country draws heavily on volunteers.

Some are still fighting fires, returning home exhausted, and perhaps gearing up for another deployment elsewhere.

So how are we looking after our firies when they’re in the middle of an “unprecedented” crisis?
